The sheep with curly hair

Once upon a time, there were two sheep who lived outside. They would spend all day eating the grass.

Bite, bite, bite. Chew, chew, chew. Swallow, swallow, swallow.

They had soft, curly hair, like all of the other sheep in their field. One day, they saw a picture of a celebrity sheep. She had long, straight hair. They were very impressed by the celebrity sheep's straight hair.

"Baaaa", said the sheep. "Doesn't that sheep look good with straight hair! I want straight hair, too".

"Baaaaa", said the other sheep. "Me too. But how can we make our hair straight?"

At first, they tried combing their hair to make it straight. They got a big brush and a big comb, and they started to brush, and comb, and brush, and comb, and soon their hair became straight! But almost immediately.... Boing! Their hair sprang back to being curly.

"Baaaa", said the sheep. "Oh no. Our hair has gone curly again! How can we make it stay straight?" Just then it started raining. And when the rain hit the sheep, it made their hair wet. And when their hair was wet, it became straight.

"Baaaa", said the sheep. "I've got an idea. We just need to get really wet". So, the sheep had a big, long bath, to get very very wet. After a while, they got out and their hair was long, wet and straight.

"Baaaa", said the sheep. "It worked. Yippee! Our hair is so straight and we look so good." The sheep were very happy. And they were showing off to all the other sheep.

But when night-time came, the temperature dropped and it got cold outside. And the sheep with straight hair started to feel very cold. They realised that the curly hair kept them warm.

"Baaaa", said the sheep. "What have we done? I want my curly hair back."

"Baaaa", said the other sheep. "Me too. I think we've made a mistake. But how can we make our hair curly again?"

So the sheep with the straight hair asked all of the other sheep, "How can we get curly hair?"

Some of the other sheep just laughed at the sheep with the straight hair. Other sheep all gave different answers for how to get curly hair. One of them said, "If you get surprised and scared all of a sudden, then your hair becomes curly". Another sheep said, "If you jump up and down really fast, then your hair goes curly". And another sheep said, "If you eat the crusts of your bread, then you get curly hair."

"Baaaa", said the sheep with the straight hair. "Thanks for the advice. Let's try it". So, sheep tried all three suggestions at once.

They jumped up and down really fast, whilst eating their crusts from their bread, and scaring each other by making silly, scary faces.

And then, all of a sudden - boing! - their hair sprang back into being curly. And the sheep felt warm once again.

"Baaa!", said the sheep, jumping up and down with joy. "Yippee, It worked! I'm so happy that we've got curly hair again.

"Baaa", said the other sheep. "Yes, me too. I understand now that sometimes it's better to be comfortable and warm rather than being stylish like a celebrity.

So the sheep had nice, curly hair again and were very happy again, and they carried on eating the grass.

Bite, bite, bite. Chew, chew, chew. Swallow, swallow, swallow. Sleep, sleep, sleep.
